European FIA GT3 visits Slovakia for the first time!
- (19.08.2011)Over one moth long summer break is over and the European FIA GT3 championship continues this weekend in Slovakia and Charouz-Gravity team is not going to miss it. The team fields as always two silver Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 cars. Last race in France brought first points to the team and the aim is to add more.
The first Mercedes #11 of Gravity-Charouz Racingu is again shared by Leonid Machitski and Jarek Janiš. The Russian-Czech duo is ready to do their best to expand their points tally from last event at Paul Ricard where they finished 8th. While Jarek Janiš knows the track very well, Leonid Machitski will get the first taste of the track only in the first free practice. „I am very happy that I can race that cose to the Czech Republic. It is almost our home event, so it is going to be a challene for us. I hope we can continue in performances like in France and get more points,“ says Jarek Janiš.
Jan Šťovíček and Jakub Knoll get behind the wheel of the #12 silver Mercedes. The Czech duo raced in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo during the break of the GT3 championship and Šťovíček even did also famous 24 race at Spa. Both Czech drivers want to use their added experience to again raise the level of the game. „I know Slovakiaring from the testing in the spring – it is demanding, twisty and also quick track. The aim for qualifying is to get to the midfield what we have not managed so yet. The question is if we can use new tyres during short qualifying, we have only 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we are facing 5 places grid penalty from last race. I still hope to improve our best results of the season,“ added Jan Šťovíček.
There is no doubt that the Admiral GT3 Racing Weekend brings biggest excitement to Filip Sládečka, who races for German Heico Motorsport team as Slovakiaring is his home race. The Slovakian drive together with his team-mate Patrick Hirsch are going to try to forget the unlucky French weekend and try to fight for podium. „Finally! First of on a track that I know. It is going to be my home race so I must put in more than 100% and try to show the best of myself,“ says Filip Sládečka.
