Erik and Jarek Janiš achieved four podium results at Adria
- (17.05.2009)Successful racing day for the Janiš´s brerthren duo in Adria, Italy. Driving Lamborghini Gallardo Coupé FLGTR MY09 prepared by Lamborghini Racing Eastern Europe, they celebrated altogether four times their podium positions during the brand new series of Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.
The crew of Erik Janiš and Michael Scheublein, starting ninth from the grid, achieved second place under the chequered flag of the first race. The result of the second race (9th place) has been affected by two faults of Michael Scheublein. However, the crew improved for the final raced and achieved another second place. Well, drivers has been satisfied with their results.
Erik Janiš: „At the beginning we were getting used to the new car. As we have guessed after the qualifying, the biggest issue were brakes. After starting ninth from the grid, the result of the first race suprised me. Unfortunately, in the second race my team mate was penalized by pass through the pit lane and also he went off. He handed the car over to me on the 10th place and I only achieved 9th position. However, the third race was very good. Although I started ninth from the grid, I got the leading position quite soon. My team mate finally finished second. Michael little bit suffered with lack of experience, however apart from two mistakes in the second race, he ran in the great way.“
Although starting twelfth from the grid, the crew of Jarek Janiš – prince Thurn und Taxis achieved third place in the first race. In the second race they finished just under the podium, gaining fourth place. The third race they finished third once more. Also Jarek has been satisfied with the results.
Jarek Janiš: „The final race was very good for us, because we could fight for the win. Unfortunately, at the drivers´ change my team mate wasn´t able to fasten the belt for a long time and we lost about 10 or 12 seconds. We finished third then. All three races were good, although we ran brand new cars. My team mate was experience driver of FIA GT3 championship. So this weekend was quite hard for him, because he was switching among FIA GT 3 and Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo cars. The starting field involved some experienced competitors such as Peter Kox, Uwe Alzen or Fabio Babini. We haven´t got any serious technical problems. We just little bit struggled with brakes – however Adria belongs to the most demanding circuits concerning brakes.“
Antonín Charouz, manager of the drivers: „Erik and Jarek nade me happy with the results, that they have achieved, because we had not enough time to prepare this project. But finally everything went well and the results of both drivers had shown it. We are happy, that we are part of such racing cup, especially when it is supported by so world known mark, as Lamborghini is.“
